The speech Himmler gives in Posen, occupied Poland this week in 1943 will be used over, and over again to prove that the Nazi leaders were deliberate, and personally involved in genocide. I (Spartacus) have always found that a bit disturbing. We have enough other evidence to prove that. Evidence from much earlier.Sure, this is Himmler, in his own voice, on record saying what we already know … but it shouldn’t be surprising I’d say, but why it is then? Well, mainly because of denialism, where this doch had been used over, and over again as a rebuttal.
Oddly it’s had the opposite effect … it’s cemented the myth that Hitler, Himmler et al never spoke openly of it all, only using obscure references in a secret conspiracy. Anyone that follows this series will know that this is ridiculous — time and time again they have openly stated what they wanted to achieve.
Nevertheless, Himmler’s words ARE chilling, and the effect while they are spoken chattering. Never Forget.
