YouTube censored this video by age restricting it because one (1) picture of dead victims of German atrocities. We’re appalled at YouTube restricting this educational content, especially at a time when we see an increase of hate driven violence in many places. It’s especially tragic in view of the quote by one of the survivors of the Sobibor uprising, Philip Bialowitz, when he was 84 years old and asked why he continues to travel world to tell his story at such an advanced age:“I swore that I would continue to go around and tell my story about the Sobibor death camp to young people for as long as I was still able to. We cannot allow what happened back then to be forgotten.”
Philip died in 2016, and now it is up to the next generations to continue his vital work, YouTube seems to disagree.
There’s nothing we can do — YouTube is a black box, that refuses to talk to us about this, even when we have contacts at the highest level. They only allow us a technical appeal, which was rejected. So here is the video with that image blurred, although it goes against every principle of correct documentation of the events.
