It should be noted, though, that it really was kind of gross to be alive during the ’70s. You can’t unsee all those hairdos, medallions, and Day-Glo typefaces. You just kind of have to put your head down like a shell-shocked veteran and stride your way grimly through a happier age.

The thing one must always remember is, if we live long enough the current era will be viewed that way. Today’s cool is tomorrow’s cringe and next week’s retro.
I will also argue that we live in an age of cowards. Walk into any public space and people blend into a sea of t-shirts and jeans, athleisure wear, or similar blandness. And the reason is that we’re so afraid to make a statement that we fear our own cloths. We wear cloths, not for the time-honored and honorable purpose of standing out, but as camouflage so that we blend in. I have far more respect for someone who has something to say than I do for someone who’s only goal is to blend in. I may disagree with what they say, it may be incredibly stupid, but at least they have the courage and fortitude to say it!
