There wasn’t room in this script to fully explain the story of what happened to Anne Frank’s friends who did not die in the episode, but I wanted to share it with you all here because it’s important.-Spartacus
Barbara, Hanneli and her sister Rachel will survive the war. Barbara will emigrate to North Carolina, US in 1947 and marry scientist and later Nobel laureate Martin Rodell with whom she will have four children. In 2022, at 97 she still lives in North Carolina. Hanneli and Rachel will emigrate to Palestine, later Israel in 1947. They will both engage themselves to keep alive their dead friends’ memory for all of their lives. On October 28, 2022 Hanneli passed away two weeks before her 94th birthday. She is survived by her sister, three children, ten grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren.
