Europe is burning and it seems there is little that will end the suffering except victory over Naziism.

SPOILER ALERT. The story of Klaus Barbie post-war is as unjust as it is familiar. Having worked for the SS and SD to maximize the murder and torture of those the Nazis deemed as enemies, the United States intelligence community brought him on to aid them in their efforts to disrupt left wing organizing around the world. The Government of the United States of America aided Barbie’s journey to Bolivia to evade justice, where he then worked with US and Bolivian security forces to torture and repress left wing opposition to the Bolivian regime. He eventually once again began working for Germans when the German Federal Republic (West German) Intelligence Service recruited him themselves. After a political shift in Bolivia, he lost his protection and was finally extradited in France in 1983 where he was convicted for his crimes against humanity, some 40 years after his criminal career with the Nazis had begun.
