From the comments:

World War Two
While across Europe groups of resistance and Partisan fighters formed organized military detachments, many that are not yet prepared to take up arms still resist German occupation. Throughout this war passive, silent, and unrecorded acts of minor sabatoge do take their toll on the German war effort. Others will publicly refuse to submit, directly threatening the Nazi psychological control of Europe, and emboldending others to go further. Their participation made a difference, and matters.
