This question comes up often because for some reason, mainly from school woodworking, kids are taught to remove waste from a housing dado, recess, or other using only the bevel down. In reality, however, we need to be ready to use both or one or the other at different times. I hope that this video will help to show alternative ways and also show just how very versatile the chisel is for various applications.
