There is a phenomenon I call redpill poisoning where someone sees through the establishment matrix, but then starts assuming the exact opposite of that narrative is always true. This oneshots a lot of smart people.Absolutely. Among other things, I think this explains why a large minority of conservatives have become suckers for Russian propaganda about the Ukraine war.
I like your term “redpill poisoning” and will adopt it.

Believing everything the media tells you is a lie may not be right, but it’s the way to bet.

As the Latin tag pithily puts it – Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus – and the media have long since been in the habit of falsely testifying to favour the narrative.

And here I was thinking that people who believed the official narrative were suckers for globalists propaganda. It’s always interesting to hear what the other side thinks.

You know that what you’re hearing has been — at the very least — slanted or shaded to favour one particular viewpoint. Taking that into account helps to discern something closer to the facts (which is why social media echo chambers are so toxic).

I have a friend that’s like that. I consider myself red-pilled, but if the government made an announcement that the sky is blue, I wouldn’t automatically assume that they were lying. He would.

Sounds like a good opportunity for the “Mudd Maneuver“:
