SNAGGING – Stuff I Know I Got Wrong
I said Wingate had decided to proceed on finding Piccadilly might be compromised, but according to John Masters, in his superb book The Road Past Mandalay, when Wingate found out Piccadilly had logs on it he became highly emotional, called the whole operation murder and said that if it went ahead and everyone died, that was on Bill Slim. General Slim decided he was being hysterical and made the call to divert troops to Broadway.
