In this lesson, I show you how to size the side panels of the cabinet by hand. These techniques are applicable to all components ranging from a small project like this, to sizing an entire 8×4 sheet on an industrial panel saw. A good grasp of the importance of face sides and face edges is extremely important here!

Shinto Rasp Review | Paul Sellers

Published 12 Dec 2019

For shaping wood the Shinto Rasp is highly effective. From kayaks to guitar necks and cabriole legs to eagle wings, Paul would always have one of these on hand.

Paul made this video on the Shinto Sawrasp for you, our audience of hand tool enthusiasts, because it works so well and the cost is less prohibitive than hand-cut rasps but it works almost as well. Paul wanted to say upfront that he does not nor will he take any payment for showing this tool in this video.

The main body of the box is ready for fitting the drawer front in preparation for cutting the half-lap dovetails. Precise fitting ensures neatness to the drawer’s final appearance, and here Paul focuses on the small details he uses in the day to day of drawer making. Small sizes demand higher levels of precision, and this box is a design Paul came up with to create this level of high-demand. Will you rise to the challenge?

Brace & Bit | Paul Sellers

Paul Sellers
Published 14 Nov 2019

Paul has enjoyed using the traditional brace with a variety of different interchangeable bits for over 50 years and they work exceptionally well in a wide range of situations.

Many times we reach for electric drills and battery-driven drill drivers that can seem easy, but at the same time might well endanger the workpiece. Other times we have larger holes to drill that can cause strain to the drill and to the workpiece, whereas the brace and bit might well be the perfect solution. In Paul’s world it’s not an either-or, but a place for both.
