A bit of a throwback to an earlier time, as I’m posting the whole column here instead of at the GuildMag site — technical issues with the hosting service have made GuildMag temporarily inaccessible. Fortunately, I’d saved a local copy of the weekly round-up just before the site went down, so I’m not starting from a completely blank slate (but I probably missed some links in the change-over). I’ll repost the whole thing at GuildMag once the technical issues have been addressed.

  • On the official Guild Wars 2 forums, Michael Henninger posted on the topic Fraud Alert – Don’t buy outside of TP! “In the last couple of days we have noticed a sharp increase in reports from players who were cheated while trading or buying items outside of the Black Lion Trading Post. One offer that is currently popular with scammers is offering Bolts of Damask at around 10g. The relatively low cost of this item might make it seem easier to trust that the deal is legitimate. However, we’ve seen just the opposite. Scammers are offering these items and then not delivering them. Please keep in mind that if you lose gold in this manner it will not be returned. Please also remember that any account that we verify to have been involved in the defrauding of players will be investigated and suspended or terminated.”

We’re discussing a variety of ideas that will allow players more flexibility in experiencing the Living World content, but we’re not ready to announce the details since the designs aren’t finalized yet.”

It’s worth noting, we’ve never said the features we’re bundling together will release in March as well, only that they will be released together after the first living world season has completed. Between china beta testing and the large amount of work we’re doing to better pace the progression and teaching of the game based on those tests, completing our current living world story arc, the big projects we’ve been working on in the background (shh!), and all the features in production we’ve got a lot on our plate currently. We don’t want to list any specific features or timing until we get closer to that point where we’re more sure of exactly what players will see. Mesmer Clone Body Extension= Basically you can have a fist weapon that makes clone extensions of your own body. Think Ivy from Soul Calibur with her extendable sword. Thief Sniper Rifle/Katana= I gave this two because I think they fit. Sniper Rifle because of thieves stealth and skills. And the same for Katana again for stylish play. And a actual ninja feel can be further explored. Engineer Combatsuit= This suit can be used as a melee augment. It can take a slot on your skills. Be viable melee skills that doesn’t wear off unless you want it to. Think a iron man suit for this. Elementalist Permanent Summoned Weapons= This is maybe the easiest thing to implement. Maybe A-net could morph traits to better use summon weapons. So if a Ele wanted they could only use them as a means of combat. It be a nice switch up choice anyway and hopefully viable. Necromancer Grim Reaper Weapon=Yea I know they have one technically already. But an actual weapon that big hit nukes. The complaint on Necro is why bring it and it just doesn’t hit very hard. Maybe this weapon can address those concerns. Ranger Beastmaster Whip= Whips are already in the game. So I think this would be fitting. You could of whip synch attacks with pets. Use them as AOE variations. Or as nice melee options for a different style of play. Again all of this is just a wish list. Doesn’t mean it will happen but it be nice if it did right?
