With the dovetails all fitting, we are ready to clean up the inside faces of the box, ready for gluing the corners together. It’s a systematic process that minimises the risk of messing up.

Lots of tricks of the trade for gluing up and checking the whole for squareness, etc. Planing out any unevenness ensures a pristine finish, and we definitely follow a process that gives top-notch results.

The lid and bottom of the box are both rounded over, and the simplest thing is that we only need one tool, the #4 plane, to achieve amazing results. The final stage is to glue the bottom onto the box and prepare the lid for hingeing.

My name is Matt Estlea, I’m a 24 year old Woodworker from Basingstoke in England and my aim is to make your woodworking less s***.

I come from 5 years tuition at Rycotewood Furniture Centre with a further 1 year working as an Artist in Residence at the Sylva Foundation. I now teach City and Guilds Furniture Making at Rycotewood as of September 2018.

If you’re interested in studying at Rycotewood, view their courses here:

I also had 5 years of experience working at Axminster Tools and Machinery where I helped customers with purchasing tools, demonstrated in stores and events, and gained extensive knowledge about a variety of tools and brands. I discontinued this at the start of 2019 to focus solely on video creation and teaching.

During the week, I film woodworking projects, tutorials, reviews and a viewer favourite ‘Tool Duel’ where I compare two competitive manufacturers tools against one another to find out which is best. I also have a Free Online Woodworking School which you should definitely check out!

I like to have a laugh and my videos are quite fast paced BUT you will learn a lot, I assure you.

Lets go make a mess.

More information in the website article – https://nickferry.com/2018/03/best-wa… including links to the wood clamps

Sometimes you need to glue boards together to make up thicker stock for table legs, furniture making & turning projects. This is the best way for gluing wood together to get thicker boards. Super simple but effective way to keep all the wood aligned while clamping just by using a parallel clamp and some F-style clamps. I find this method a lot easier than using cauls, salt or nails.

What You Need to Know About Glue | WOODWORKING BASICS

Gluing is an essential part of woodworking. Here are the basics to get you started. Please read the full article for more info ►► http://bit.ly/Gluing

Near the end of the video, he mentions the glue I’ve been using pretty much exclusively since I got started in woodworking: Weldbond. It works as well as he says, and as a result, I don’t have much experience using other glues for woodworking projects.
