{"id":800,"date":"2009-09-03T13:01:57","date_gmt":"2009-09-03T17:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/quotulatiousness.ca\/blog\/?p=800"},"modified":"2009-09-03T14:36:47","modified_gmt":"2009-09-03T18:36:47","slug":"alabama-belatedly-bans-indecent-wine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quotulatiousness.ca\/blog\/2009\/09\/03\/alabama-belatedly-bans-indecent-wine\/","title":{"rendered":"Alabama belatedly bans &#8220;indecent&#8221; wine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three years after it started being sold in the state, Alabama decided that this is indecent:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/quotulatiousness.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/Cycles_Gladiator_label.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/quotulatiousness.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/Cycles_Gladiator_label.jpg\" alt=\"Cycles_Gladiator_label\" title=\"Cycles_Gladiator_label\" width=\"425\" height=\"330\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-801\" srcset=\"https:\/\/quotulatiousness.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/Cycles_Gladiator_label.jpg 425w, https:\/\/quotulatiousness.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/Cycles_Gladiator_label-150x116.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 425px) 100vw, 425px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.slashfood.com\/2009\/08\/06\/alabama-declares-wine-bottle-indecent\/\" target=\"_blank\">Slashfood<\/a> reports:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Wine and scantily clad women may sound like some cad&#8217;s idea of a good time, but the combo spells trouble in Alabama, which last week banned the sale of a California-made wine bottle adorned with a naked nymph &mdash; helping boost its sales elsewhere in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Pursuant to the state&#8217;s administrative code, the Alabama Beverage Control Board ordered Hahn Family Wines to remove its Cycles Gladiator wines from shelves throughout the state, calling its label &#8220;immodest.&#8221; According to Hahn president Bill Legion, a small state board in Alabama rejected the artwork last year, but the ruling did not catch Legion&#8217;s eye.
