New interpretations include &#8220;Rainbow Pete&#8221; and &#8220;Sooty Pete&#8221;, and they have their own nuances and difficulties as well \u2013 but it&#8217;s worth the investigation if you&#8217;re curious, because it really is fascinating to see cultural innovation in real time!
