now, I know that some of you will take issue with using &#8220;unconditional war&#8221; for the English translation of &#8220;<em>Totaler Krieg<\/em>&#8221; since it is very much about getting the country on war footing. However it is not only about that, and the translation &#8220;Unconditional War&#8221; better captures what Goebbels is broadcasting, because it goes far, far beyond preparing the German people for more sacrifices &mdash; it is a public decision to fight to the last drop of blood imposed on the whole nation.
