\u201cWe\u2019ve been sitting there pretty much most of the morning looking for ya, just because we wanted to have a couple words with ya.\u201d He added that police had \u201csome concerns today for you and the safety of the community,\u201d and \u201cit\u2019s our belief that if you or anybody else attempts to erect flags or ribbons directly across from Douglas Creek Estates, that it may cause a confrontation, and we can\u2019t let that happen, and we won\u2019t let that happen.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will allow you to raise flags and ribbons, just not across from the Douglas Creek Estates. Okay, and anybody that — anybody that attempts to do that, to raise those flags and ribbons in that restricted area, will be arrested for breach of the peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

McHale, of course, asked, \u201cSo have the natives been arrested for putting up their flags?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have not,\u201d Cowan replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy?\u201d McHale asked. \u201cYou said \u2018anyone.\u2019 Your words were \u2018Anyone who tries to put up flags will be arrested for breach of the peace.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s today I\u2019m talking about,\u201d Cowan replied.<\/p>\n

Around and around they went, with McHale pressing his point and Cowan\u2019s only answer for it that, when natives put up their flags, it was \u201ca long time ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I\u2019m not here to comment on that,\u201d Cowan said. \u201cI\u2019m just telling you what our plan is today, and that\u2019s what my purpose is.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell,\u201d McHale said, \u201cyou know what my plan is.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is your plan?\u201d Cowan asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy plan is to make you guys look like a bunch of assholes,\u201d McHale said, \u201cand you\u2019ve done a great job [of helping achieve that]. The media will be here, and it will be quite clear to all Canadians across this country, because they will see the native flag. The cameras will show the native flag. And you\u2019ll be there, and your officers will be there, saying, \u2018If you put up a Canadian flag, we will arrest you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
