This one&#8217;s the Military Expedition, aka what happens when a powerful military juggernaut gets too big for its britches and starts saying stuff like &#8220;too big to fail&#8221; unironically.<\/p>\n<p>Blue: If you&#8217;re curious about the <a href=\"https:\/\/quotulatiousness.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Minard-March-and-retreat-from-Moscow-1812-full-size.png\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">weird chart\/graph thing<\/a> blue showed during the Napoleon segment, look up Charles Joseph Minard [mentioned <a href=\"https:\/\/quotulatiousness.ca\/blog\/2013\/05\/28\/charles-joseph-minard-died-for-our-infographic-sins\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/quotulatiousness.ca\/blog\/2017\/04\/15\/charles-joseph-minard\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>], the guy who made it. It&#8217;s a really cool chart that shows the size of the army as it traveled across Russia (tan) and back (black). You can see how perilous the journey was based on how narrow the line gets.
