After the<br \/>\n   chaos of a general election, we can return to normal.<\/p>\n<p>M: Oh, has there been a general election, then, Mr. BlackAdder?<\/p>\n<p>E: Indeed there has, Mrs. Miggins.<\/p>\n<p>M: Oh, well, I never heard about it.<\/p>\n<p>E: Well of course you didn&#8217;t; you&#8217;re not eligible to vote.<\/p>\n<p>M: Well, why not?<\/p>\n<p>E: Because virtually no-one is: women, peasants, (looks at Baldrick)<br \/>\n   chimpanzees (Baldrick looks behind himself, trying to see the animal),<br \/>\n   lunatics, Lords&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>B: That&#8217;s not true &mdash; Lord Nelson&#8217;s got a vote!<\/p>\n<p>E: He&#8217;s got a <em>boat<\/em>, Baldrick. Marvelous thing, democracy. Look at<br \/>\n   Manchester: population, 60,000; electoral roll, 3.<\/p>\n<p>M: Well, I may have the brain the size of a sultana&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>E: Correct&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>M: &#8230;but it hardly seems fair to me.<\/p>\n<p>E: Of course it&#8217;s not fair &mdash; and a damn good thing too. Give the like of<br \/>\n   Baldrick the vote and we&#8217;ll be back to cavorting druids, death by<br \/>\n   stoning, and dung for dinner.<\/p>\n<p>B: Oh, I&#8217;m having dung for dinner tonight.<\/p>\n<p>M: So, who are they electing when they have these elections?<\/p>\n<p>E: Ah, the same old shower: fat tory landowners who get made MPs when<br \/>\n   they reach a certain weight; raving revolutionaries who think that just<br \/>\n   because they do a day&#8217;s work that somehow gives them the right to get<br \/>\n   paid&#8230; Basically, it&#8217;s a right old mess. Toffs at the top, plebs at the<br \/>\n   bottom, and me in the middle making a fat pile of cash out of both of them.<\/p>\n<p>M: Oh, you&#8217;d better watch out, Mr. BlackAdder; things are bound to change.<\/p>\n<p>E: Not while Pitt the Elder&#8217;s Prime Minister they aren&#8217;t. He&#8217;s about as<br \/>\n   effective as a catflap in an elephant house.
