This is a long, long thread from @EngageStrategy<\/a>, so I’m putting it below the fold for those who aren’t interested and don’t want to scroll down for hours…<\/p>\n

It covers the near-death experience of British carriers in the 1960s (the cancellation of the last fleet carriers), the odd evolution of the “through deck command cruisers” (Invincible<\/em>, Illustrious<\/em>, and Ark Royal<\/em>), the development of the Harrier, and the very near-run thing that was the carriers’ share of combat duty during the Falklands War.<\/p>\n
