{"id":36542,"date":"2016-12-05T04:00:33","date_gmt":"2016-12-05T09:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/quotulatiousness.ca\/blog\/?p=36542"},"modified":"2016-12-04T21:28:11","modified_gmt":"2016-12-05T02:28:11","slug":"seasonal-beers-yule-shoot-your-eye-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quotulatiousness.ca\/blog\/2016\/12\/05\/seasonal-beers-yule-shoot-your-eye-out\/","title":{"rendered":"Seasonal beers &#8211; Yule Shoot Your Eye Out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s from a <a href=\"http:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2016\/12\/02\/heres-perfect-beer-drink-watching-christmas-story\/\" target=\"_blank\">brewer in Houston<\/a> I&#8217;ve never heard of, so the chances that it&#8217;ll appear in the government monopoly liquor stores here in Ontario are pretty small:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>A Christmas Story<\/em> is such a staple of the American holiday season that in 1997, Turner Broadcasting\u2019s TNT or TBS networks began running \u201c24 Hours of <em>A Christmas Story.<\/em>\u201d All day long on Christmas Eve and all day long on Christmas Day, you can turn on the TV and catch <em>A Christmas Story.<\/em> When the screaming kids have finally gone to sleep, and you\u2019re done with all your wrapping, you can sit down and catch a true American classic that will let you unwind, make you laugh, and remind you of the Christmas frustration of kids everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>When you sit down to watch the movie, grab a beer. It will undoubtedly help you relax. Christmas is stressful, especially as a parent. You can see this in the character of \u201cthe Old Man\u201d in Ralphie\u2019s story. His father is always trying to balance a battle against his angry furnace, the neighbor\u2019s wild and hungry dogs, and the stress of balancing life with his kids and his job.<\/p>\n<p>In the mid-twentieth-century, middle-America setting of <em>A Christmas Story,<\/em> \u201cthe Old Man\u201d probably drank some pretty boring beer to relax at the end of a long day. You, my friends, have many more options. There are plenty of Christmas beers, and we\u2019ll get into them in the coming weeks, but there is one you just can\u2019t pass up if you\u2019re a fan of <em>A Christmas Story<\/em> (and let\u2019s admit, you all are).<\/p>\n<p>Karbach Brewing Company out of Houston makes a beer called Yule Shoot Your Eye Out.
