We could really use some nice tweets from Lena Dunham.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Male Executive #2<\/strong>: You know she doesn\u2019t tweet anything herself, right?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Glasses-wearing Male Executive #3<\/strong>: We could just make another biopic about a queen. . .<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Male Executive #2<\/strong>: I\u2019ve got it! We\u2019ll pick a well-loved film and recast all the male leads with female actors.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Balding Male Executive #1<\/strong>: Brilliant! And we can pay them all less because they\u2019re ALL women.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Executive #2<\/strong>: I\u2019ll make some calls.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I\u2019m not the only one who\u2019s sick of having studio executives from the wage-gap capital of the world mansplain feminism. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bustle.com\/articles\/177923-hopefully-oceans-8-will-avoid-the-trap-of-gender-swapped-reboots\" target=\"_blank\">As Amy Roberts points out<\/a>, Hollywood seems to only be interested in throwing \u201ccinematic slops\u201d to women.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2016, why is it that the movie industry feels as though it can only entrust a blockbuster movie to women as long as the film\u2019s story and characters are based on already successful male ones?\u201d she writes.<\/p>\n<p>She has a point \u2014 this is <em>Hollywood<\/em> \u2014 the place where women are <a href=\"http:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2015\/02\/23\/we-dont-have-a-wage-gap-problem-but-hollywood-and-the-white-house-do\/\" target=\"_blank\">consistently paid less than men<\/a>, the town that forgets about women <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ew.com\/article\/2016\/07\/27\/greys-anatomy-ellen-pompeo-aging\" target=\"_blank\">the second they turn 40<\/a>, the place where it\u2019s hard for women to get roles any <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/articles\/2014\/12\/15\/exclusive-sony-emails-reveal-why-aaron-sorkin-thinks-hollywood-has-a-women-problem.html\" target=\"_blank\">deeper than the shallow end of a kiddie pool<\/a>, the city that <a href=\"http:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2016\/01\/18\/the-accidentally-racist-oscars\/\" target=\"_blank\">hides its actresses of color<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bre Payton wants Hollywood to start treating women as people: Here\u2019s how I imagine the pitch meeting for Ocean\u2019s 8 went down in a smoky executive boardroom somewhere in Warner Bros.\u2019 studio office.
