Compared with virgins, men with more sexual experience <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/blogs\/shortsharpscience\/2009\/06\/who-is-the-40-year-old-virgin.html\" target=\"_blank\">are likely to<\/a> drink more alcohol, attend church less, and have a criminal history. A Dr. Beaver (nominative determinism again!) was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/19350760\" target=\"_blank\">able to predict<\/a> number of sexual partners pretty well using a scale with such delightful items as \u201chave you been in a gang\u201d, \u201chave you used a weapon in a fight\u201d, et cetera. An analysis of the psychometric Big Five <a href=\"http:\/\/homepage.psy.utexas.edu\/HomePage\/Group\/MestonLAB\/Publications\/mestonetal_fivefactor.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">consistently find<\/a> that high levels of disagreeableness predict high sexual success in both men and women.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re smart, don\u2019t drink much, stay out of fights, display a friendly personality, and have no criminal history &mdash; then you are the population most at risk of being miserable and alone. \u201cAt risk\u201d doesn\u2019t mean \u201cfor sure\u201d, any more than every single smoker gets lung cancer and every single nonsmoker lives to a ripe old age &mdash; but your odds get worse. In other words, everything that \u201cnice guys\u201d complain of is pretty darned accurate.
