It describes how CCTV sets the tone on the key issues of the day &mdash; every day, rain or shine &mdash; and in a nutshell some of their key observations are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your remote will be rendered useless and there is no place to hide. Central, provincial, city and local channels are all required to broadcast the program<\/li>\n<li>Unplugging the TV won\u2019t help as the same message awaits you on websites and newspapers the following day<\/li>\n<li>No issue is too small when it comes to practicing the core values of socialism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For readers who are studying Chinese, the post also offers handy examples of the program\u2019s particular phraseology &mdash; a sparse and wooden collection of stock formulations all too familiar to some of CRT\u2019s more grizzled correspondents. A few of our favorites: \u201cThe two sides carried out an affable and friendly discussion\u201d (\u53cc\u65b9\u8fdb\u884c\u4e86\u4eb2\u5207\u53cb\u597d\u7684\u4f1a\u8c08), \u201c[Insert country here] reaffirms that it objects to any forces threatening to undermine Chinese sovereignty and territorial integrity\u201d ( ___ \u91cd\u7533\uff0c\u53cd\u5bf9\u4efb\u4f55\u7834\u574f\u4e2d\u56fd\u56fd \u5bb6\u4e3b\u6743\u548c\u9886\u571f\u5b8c\u6574\u7684\u52bf\u529b), \u201cThe Chinese side highly praised the [insert country here] government\u2019s efforts to always adhere to the one-China policy.
