Here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.macleans.ca\/2014\/01\/29\/let-us-tell-sad-tales-of-the-deaths-of-senate-caucuses\/\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Wells<\/a> reporting on this morning&#8217;s contretemps:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The reporters lined up outside a meeting room in the basement of Parliament\u2019s Centre Block were confused. I mean, maybe more than usual.<\/p>\n<p>The Liberal Senate Caucus, as it then was, had walked into the room earlier this morning. Then Justin Trudeau had walked out to say he had ejected the lot of them from the Liberal Caucus. \u201cThere are no more Liberal senators,\u201d Trudeau, who theoretically should know whether such a thing is true, had <a href=\"http:\/\/news.nationalpost.com\/2014\/01\/29\/justin-trudeau-kicks-senators-out-of-liberal-caucus-in-bid-to-show-hes-serious-about-cleaning-up-red-chamber\/\" target=\"_blank\">told<\/a> reporters.<\/p>\n<p>The (ex?-)Liberal Senate Caucus continued to meet long after Trudeau\u2019s departure, then long after their weekly meeting\u2019s scheduled end. Not that this was a problem, suddenly, because the normal reason for such a meeting\u2019s end \u2014 Senators must troop upstairs to the slightly-later weekly meeting of the National Liberal Caucus \u2014 was now moot. From inside the black box of their meeting, little escaped.<\/p>\n<p>I spotted a staffer for one of the senators.
