But police officers and their union are outraged, saying that the ubiquitous tracking is too invasive of their personal privacy. Tracking the location of officers as they go about their days would reveal incredibly detailed information about their lives, the officers say.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It must be just awful to go about your daily life looking over your shoulder, conscious that your every movement and activity is being recorded and could be used against you. Oh, wait. That\u2019s what <strong>the entire American public is already dealing with<\/strong>, in this age of mass electronic surveillance. But the way the police union is hissing\u2019n&#8217;flapping about it, it\u2019s almost as if there was something wrong with that. Don\u2019t they know that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/news\/local\/massachusetts\/articles\/2010\/05\/03\/net_of_surveillance_cameras_expands_over_boston_and_surrounding_communities\/\" target=\"_blank\">you<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techdirt.com\/articles\/20131113\/15104325233\/tsas-1-billion-behavioral-detection-program-only-slightly-more-accurate-than-coin-flip.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">have<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/community\/blog\/rise-ai-overlord-machines-monitor-automatically-detect-suspicious-behavior\" target=\"_blank\">nothing<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/blogs\/future_tense\/2013\/02\/06\/argus_is_could_the_pentagon_s_1_8_gigapixel_drone_camera_be_used_for_domestic.html\" target=\"_blank\">to<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2012\/03\/30\/the_spread_of_suspicious_activity_reporting\/\" target=\"_blank\">fear<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2013\/oct\/24\/aclu-new-york-nypd-mosques-muslims\"  target=\"_blank\">if<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/warrantless.org\/2013\/03\/fusioncenters\/\" target=\"_blank\">you<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalresearch.ca\/drone-warfare-signature-strikes\/5324491\" target=\"_blank\">have<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techdirt.com\/articles\/20131018\/18224024932\/new-study-highlights-how-megaupload-took-down-over-10-million-non-infringing-files.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">nothing<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aclum.org\/policing_dissent\/reports\" target=\"_blank\">to<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.villagevoice.com\/runninscared\/the_nypd_tapes\/\" target=\"_blank\">hide<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>The ACLU\u2019s tack is that if the police don\u2019t like the feeling of being followed, they shouldn\u2019t be pushing for technologies like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/alpr\" target=\"_blank\">mass tracking of license plates<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/technology-and-liberty\/warrantless-cell-phone-location-tracking\" target=\"_blank\">cellphone locations<\/a>.
