In 2009, Gupta penned an op-ed advocating against marijuana, where he advised as a doctor that \u201cmarijuana isn\u2019t really very good for you.\u201d At the time, he was in the running for an appointment to Surgeon General.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, additional research and his work on a documentary have convinced him otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI apologize because I didn\u2019t look hard enough, until now,\u201d he said. \u201cI didn\u2019t look far enough.
