BC&#8217;s Christy Clark would like to see the rules <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestar.com\/news\/canada\/2013\/07\/25\/wine_on_the_menu_and_the_agenda_at_premiers_conference.html\" target=\"_blank\">brought into this century<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>British Columbia Premier Christy Clark brought a case of her province\u2019s wine to the heart of Ontario\u2019s vine land.<\/p>\n<p>Clark presented the vintages to her dozen provincial and territorial colleagues in a bid to lower trade barriers.<\/p>\n<p>Even though Ottawa eased interprovincial rules surrounding wine last year, it is still illegal for Ontarians to buy wine in bulk directly from B.C. vineyards.<\/p>\n<p>To get around that, Clark\u2019s six-person entourage brought two bottles apiece to have a full case for the premiers at their annual Council of the Federation gathering.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I linked to an item on this issue by Michael Pinkus <a href=\"http:\/\/quotulatiousness.ca\/blog\/2013\/03\/28\/challenging-prohibition-era-federal-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\">earlier this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The rules governing inter-provincial trade in wine date back to the Prohibition era.
