At the centre of Britain&#8217;s strategy is Singapore, and the arrival of two powerful warships is meant to demonstrate that the Royal Navy can still project its power across the region.<\/p>\n<p><em>HMS Prince of Wales<\/em> and <em>HMS Repulse<\/em>, accompanied by a small destroyer force, form Force Z and sail into increasingly dangerous waters. But without the aircraft carrier originally intended to accompany them, the squadron is operating under a serious disadvantage.<\/p>\n<p>As Japanese forces begin their invasion of Malaya, Force Z sets out to disrupt the landings.
