Now he turns toward Czechoslovakia &mdash; and at home, Nazi Germany&#8217;s terror against Jews and other targeted minorities accelerates.<\/p>\n<p>In this episode of Death of Democracy, Spartacus Olsson reports from Berlin at the end of Q2 1938, as the Nazi regime fuses foreign-policy intimidation with domestic repression.<\/p>\n<p>After the <em>Anschluss<\/em>, Hitler pressures Czechoslovakia over the Sudetenland, but the May Crisis exposes that Germany may not yet be ready for war. Humiliated, Hitler secretly issues a revised Case Green directive: Czechoslovakia is to be smashed by military action.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, persecution inside the Reich escalates. Jews are forced to register assets. The <em>Nuremberg Laws<\/em> are extended to annexed Austria. The Great Synagogue in Munich is demolished. Berlin sees orchestrated anti-Jewish street violence.
