Ontario’s Progressive Conservatives living down to expectations

As I’ve said before, Tim Hudak is doing everything he possibly can to keep Dalton McGuinty’s chances of re-election alive. The polls now show just how well that’s working out:

Liberal Leader Dalton McGuinty and his Progressive Conservative rival Tim Hudak are locked in a statistical tie as Ontario gears up to elect a new premier, a new poll suggests.

Both Hudak and McGuinty have the support of about 30 per cent of voters, less than two months before the October election, according to the Nanos Research poll.

The poll, conducted for CTV, the Globe and Mail and CP24, asked 1,000 Ontarians of voting age who “would make the best premier of Ontario?”

McGuinty had 30.3 per cent support while Hudak had 28.7 per cent of support. Since the difference is within the margin of error for the poll, the two leaders are locked in a close race.

Meanwhile, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath trails the frontrunners with 12.2 per cent support, and 14.6 per cent of voters are undecided.

Additionally, 11 per cent of voters say none of the provincial leaders would make the best premier.

  1. Take heart, many pollsters were off the mark in the federal election. I can’t imagine an Ontario stupid enough to let McFly in again, but if they do, they deserve every little bit of pain they get, based on the idiotic green policies and unsustainable welfare garbage I have seen in the news.

I’m not sure whether to admire your confidence in the common sense of Ontarians or worry about your rose-coloured glasses being too deeply tinted.

At the moment, the solar power snake-oil salesmen are running some radio ads that basically function as pre-election spending for the Liberals. I expect to see and hear much more of that before the election period officially starts. They (and other rent-seekers) have a lot to lose if McGuinty and his lot get thrown out of office.

  3. I have the good fortune of not living in Ontario (although being in BC isn’t always that much of an escape from the “progressive” mind (I use progressive in quotes because they are not really progressive, they just like to call themselves progressive.)) Anyway, I hope for Ontario, and Canada’s sake too, that someone find’s their common sense and help to root out the uselessness that is the McGuinty Government.
