Brrrrrr

We got home from watching Sherlock Holmes around 11 last night, to discover that our house was suspiciously cold. Almost Dickensian, actually. Half an hour of fiddling with the furnace and we were no further ahead (and no warmer). It’s funny how you can take the ordinary comforts for granted until they’re not available . . .

  1. Isn’t it amazing how those spark plug thingies in modern natural gas furnaces always fail on the coldest day of the year? Ours fails so regularly when the outside temp hits -40ÂșC that Environment Canada has approached us about using it as a weather station instrument.

  2. And based on what’s been discovered about many of the USGS weather stations, you’d be a strong candidate for inclusion.
